Privacy policy

This policy explains what information A&B Motors collects when you visit abmotorsla.com, call the yard, or buy a part from us — and what we do with it. We are a used auto parts business in Amite, Louisiana. We are not in the data business, and we do not sell your personal information.

What we collect
When you place an order
Your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, the parts you bought, and confirmation that payment succeeded. We never see or store your full card number — payment details go directly to our payment processor.
When you ask us about a part
This is the one that's specific to our business. When you use our contact form, email, or call us to ask whether a part fits, you may give us:
- Your VIN (vehicle identification number)
- Your vehicle's year, make, model, trim, engine, and mileage
- The part you're looking for, and the Part ID of a listing
- Your name and how to reach you
We use a VIN for exactly one thing: checking your vehicle against our parts interchange system so we can tell you yes or no before you spend money. We do not run credit, title, insurance, or ownership checks with it, and we do not share it with anyone except as needed to fill your request.
When you ask us to buy your vehicle
If you contact us to sell a car or truck, we collect the vehicle details, your contact information, and — if we complete the purchase — the identification and title documents that Louisiana law requires us to record for a vehicle transaction. Those records are kept as long as the law requires.
When you sign up for parts alerts
Just your email address, and the part or vehicle you're waiting on if you tell us. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Automatically, when you browse
Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages and parts you viewed, and how you arrived at the site. This comes through cookies and similar technology, and it's what keeps your cart working and shows us which parts people are actually searching for.
Our site also stores a short list of the parts you recently viewed in your own browser, so you can compare parts as you shop. That list never leaves your device and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data erases it.
Why we use it
- To pull, pack, and ship your order, and to schedule local delivery or pickup
- To answer fitment questions and find parts for you
- To honor the 90-day warranty — which means keeping a record of what you bought and when
- To take payment and prevent fraudulent orders
- To meet our tax, title, and recordkeeping obligations
- To send parts alerts, if you asked for them
- To understand which parts and pages people use, so the site gets better
Who we share it with
Only the businesses needed to run ours, and only what they need:
- Shopify — hosts this store and processes orders on our behalf
- Our payment processor — handles card payments and fraud screening
- Shipping and freight carriers — receive the name, address, and phone number needed to deliver your part, including for LTL freight on large items like engines and transmissions
- Our email provider — sends order confirmations and, if you subscribed, parts alerts
- Google Maps — our contact page embeds a map; loading that page contacts Google, which is subject to Google's own privacy policy
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect our rights in a dispute. If the business is ever sold or transferred, customer records may transfer with it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We run no third-party advertising, retargeting, or social-media tracking pixels on this site. Some U.S. state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of that kind of sharing. We do not do it — but you can still record a preference on our Your Privacy Choices page, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser.
How long we keep it
Order and warranty records are kept for at least the length of the warranty and as long as tax and business law requires — generally several years. Vehicle purchase records are kept for the period Louisiana requires. Fitment inquiries that don't turn into an order are kept only as long as useful to answer you and to look for the part. Marketing emails stop when you unsubscribe.
Your choices
- Ask what we have. Contact us and we'll tell you what information we hold about you.
- Correct it. If an address or phone number is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
- Ask us to delete it. We'll delete what we're not required to keep for tax, title, or warranty purposes, and we'll tell you what we had to keep and why.
- Unsubscribe from emails any time, using the link in the email or by calling us.
- Block cookies in your browser settings. The cart and checkout may stop working correctly if you do.
We will not deny you service, charge you differently, or give you worse parts for exercising any of these.
Security
Our store runs over an encrypted connection, and payment card data is handled by our processor under industry security standards rather than stored by us. No system is perfect, but we do not keep card numbers, and we limit who here can see customer records.
Children
This site is meant for people buying auto parts and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, call us and we'll remove it.
Where we operate
We're a Louisiana business selling within the United States, and your information is processed here. If you're contacting us from outside the U.S., understand that it will be handled under U.S. law.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we'll post the updated policy on this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
